Howard M. Sachar is the author of thirteen earlier books on

Middle Eastern and Jewish history, including the internationally

acclaimed A History of Israel (revised 1996). Based in

Washington, D.C., where he is Professor of Modern History at George

Washington University, Dr. Sachar lectures extensively throughout

the United States and abroad.
